The Angel Gown™ Initiative is proud to announce that we will join the social calendar this year by hosting our inaugural gala, The Angel Gown™ Gala, in support of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness.
In South Africa the topics surrounding pregnancy and infant loss is still very much taboo, and it is our aim to continue to remove the stigma of silent suffering and allow people to tell their stories and reach out in times of need. We continue to grow our network of bereavement workers and support systems, with Angel Gown™ garments being our gift to bereaved parents.
Although all funds raised will go towards assisting us in providing our signature handmade Angel Gown™ garments to families going through this time of infant loss, the evening itself will be filled with beautiful art, uplifting entertainment and fun-filled activities all night long!
“What can I expect?” I hear you ask? Well, without giving away all the details, let me entice you with the following;
Our venue, the 4 Star Krystal Beach Hotel, is situated on the waterfront of the idyllic Harbour Island peninsula in Gordon’s Bay, and boasts breath-taking panoramic sea views. The prominent emblem of a giant anchor and the letters “GB” on the mountainside can be seen from the entrance. Fun fact; this “GB” does not stand for Gordon’s Bay.
From the hotel lobby you will enter the welcoming space of the Ndiza Gallery. They have created an elegant, immersive and unintimidating space where visitors are able to engage in the history and provenance of each piece with the use of an interactive phone app. Donation opportunity; Michele Roelofsen has offered TAGI a commission when visitors purchase their art and reference TAGI as the person of referral.
“That sounds beautiful, but what about my stomach?”
You will be enjoying an innovative and flavoursome 3 course meal, with starters and deserts served plated, while our main course will be served buffet style. As soon as we have finalized the menu we will be sure to upload it here. A cash bar will also be available at our private reception area.
“Great views, beautiful art, a full stomach and drinks, but how will you keep me entertained?”
South African Country Legend, Tommy Dell, will keep the evening upbeat with his music style that has kept our nation dancing for more than 5 decades. He has worked with big names such as Mimi Coertse, Gé Korsten, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride and Elvis Presley’s backing band, The Jordanairs. Did you know; Tommy has 11 golden albums under his belt.
Comedy Magician and TV personality, Charles Tertiens, will be our charming Master of Ceremonies, and disperse comedic magic throughout the event to keep you in fits of laughter, leaving no room for dull moments. He has starred in TV shows such as Montana and 7nde Laan, and created the unforgettable character of Karl Ahari. Fun fact; He has been voted the 3rd sexiest magician in the world, by his very own mother.
Leading up to the gala we will raffle one prize per month to advertise the gala, while using the funds to supplement the Angel Gown production costs. We will announce 1 winner once a month and all tickets are R10 per ticket. This raffle is open to all of South Africa and ACT-Logistics has offered to transport the prizes to our winners, free of charge.
At the gala itself there will also be a raffle for a variety of prizes. But this time all tickets purchased will go in one pot and you will stand a chance to win any of the prizes, at R10 per ticket. Your gala ticket will automatically enter one ticket into the draw, but you can better your odds by purchasing more tickets prior to, as well as on, the gala. You have to be in attendance to win the gala raffle prizes.
Other activities of the evening include a surprise guest speaker, a dance floor for those with magic feet, and professional photographers that will be taking portraits and capture special moments throughout the evening.
“I’m sold! Where do I buy tickets?”
Tickets can be bought here and can be purchased in any number, bear in mind a table seats 10, and it is R550 per person. Please follow this link for ticket sales. Our dress code for the evening is Formal, with Black Tie optional. The venue does offer free parking.
